We dropped off the cable box today at the Time Warner Store on 96th and Broadway. It took about 5 minutes to cancel our service, saving us something like $100 a month (less the $17 cost of HuluPlus and Netflix and maybe MLB.tv at some point).
Lately we've been getting used to watching a lot of content via Netflix.
Hulu we haven't used quite as much.
I'm still tweaking my computer and TVersity to get it to stream well. I managed to watch the first episode of Breaking Bad using the on-the-fly transcode feature of TVersity. Unfortunately I had to pause a few times to let it buffer but the picture quality was generally passable and it did work. Right now it won't recognize some file formats. I'm looking into changing the media player to VLC which handles most formats really nicely.
PlayOn.tv's trial subscription failed and right now I'm not that jazzed about paying them a license fee. We'll see what I can get with what I have but there is, so far, an impressive array of content we can access at this point in time.
